A message from the band..

October 27, 2008

We regretfully announce that Metal Church has been forced to take a hiatus from touring activities for six months or so. Kurdt Vanderhoof has been suffering from serious bulging discs in his lower back and will have to be in regular spinal rehabilitation to correct the problem.

Kurdt released this statement earlier today:
"I have been living with severe pain almost constantly for the past four years and I have to do whatever possible to get healthy again. This condition is literally stealing my life from me, and making all the things I enjoy doing almost impossible. I want to be able to walk when I'm fifty and I can't live in pain anymore. But the good news is, with regular treatment and a rehab program I can get this fixed and get back to performing live and traveling again. This comes at a very bad time with the release of our new album, but it's unavoidable. I will be working in the studio on some new Metal Church projects, as well as completing Ronny Munroe's new solo album."

The members of Metal Church will be pursuing other projects during this time and will get back to the stage as soon as Kurdt is healthy again.

We thank all the folks that have been so supportive of Metal Church over the years and we appreciate your understanding in this situation.

We will keep you updated as things progress.

Metal Church Hit The Charts

October 2, 2008

Hi Everyone,

We just got news that although This Present Wasteland has been out for only a few days we landed on Billboards Top 200 Indie Chart at 121. We want to give a shout out to everyone involved.

Maybe next time we can land in the Top 10, but for now it is nice to be recognized. We are very proud of this release and happy that we are getting so many great reviews.

Thank you all for your support.

Metal Church - This Present Wasteland

Review from Sweden Rock:

... "When Americans Metal Church - who has always been one criminally underrated band - hit the stage the really furious headbanging began. The five potent power preachers in the metal church served superior headbanger-hymns such as "Ton Of Bricks", "Start The Fire", "Human Factor" and a version of Deep Purples "Highway Star" played with such intensity that it would probably have killed the aging Purple, had they had to play the song that way themselves.

"Steffen my friend, what a great fucking band," as one guy next to me yelled.

This perceptive individual was - of course - absolutely astute in his assessment of Metal Church. Should you have been in doubt... "

... "Presto Ballet is a new band from Metal Church guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof. Singer Scott Albright was lead singer on Vanderhoof's first solo album and also frontman for his European tour, as special guests of Savatage. As with Albright, keyboard player Brian Cokeley is also a longtime musical partner of Vanderhoof. Rounding out the line up are drummer Jeff Wade and bassist Brian Lake, with whom Vanderhoof was already familiar with, having joined him on Metal Church's "Masterpeace" tour." ...
